fffffffffIn Memoriam
Lars Basbøll Larsen 1946 - 2015
Our dear friend and fellow IAMI EU member, Lars Basbøll Larsen, finally lost his long fight with cancer, and quietly passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at his home in Lyngby, Denmark.
Lars, an avid yachtsman and employee of Pantaenius Yacht Insurance, joined IAMI in 1998. He was one of the two main forces behind the organization of the second European Training Seminar in Copenhagen 1999; a Training Seminar, which was a great success.
After the establishment of the European Steering Committee, Lars succeeded Peter Clark as treasurer, a post which Lars held until the Training Seminar in 2010, when he stepped down.
Lars attended every Steering Committee Meeting with vigor and enthusiasm, and contributed in a large measure to the successes that IAMI EU have, and continue to enjoy amongst our members. Lars enthusiastically attended all Training Seminars, until his illness was too advanced.
True to the spirit of IAMI, Lars was always keenly interested in marine issues, and as a representative of Pantaenius Lars served on the Marine Committee with the Danish Insurance Association up until the end of 2014.
We will remember Lars with joy, for his friendship, wit, and the very knowledgeable and warm person that he was.
Lars is survived by his wife Anina, to whom we extend our heartfelt condolences. We will miss you dearly Lars, but wish you fair winds and following seas.
On behalf of IAMI
Tommy Hansen, Vice Chairman EU Martin Åberg, Past President
